The Modified and Varsity GISNY Soccer teams kicked off the 2018 season with two great games this week.  The modified team hosted FASNY (French American School New York) and kept their two year undefeated streak going with a 4-1 win.  Konstantin Ehling had a terrific game scoring two goals, while teammate Leander Kern had a goal and 2 assists in the win.

For the first time in years, the GISNY soccer team will face off against opposing varsity teams throughout the area.  In their first match, the Varsity soccer team travelled to take the field against Scarsdale (Varsity B) team. The game was very close; when the ref blew his whistle it was 3-3. Enno Leitner had scored 2 goals and Moritz Bergmann chipped in with a goal of his own.

Neither teams wanted the game to end in a tie-game, so they went into a special overtime (Golden Goal). The first person to score a goal wins. Paul Rothfuss was the hero, as he took a pass from Lukas Schmalhofer, and found the side of the net for the 4-3 win.

It’s going to be a fantastic season so come out and support the teams this fall! GO Eagles!
