We chose to take these photos because this tree is going to be cut down as the school is building new classrooms. The tree is about 200 years old, we think, and we feel like it’s part of our school and lives. It is an Oak Tree with a lot of leaves. Its branches are low-hanging and the roots are thick like volcanic rock. We hope the tree won’t get cut down because it’s so old and beautiful.

Thank you very much for expressing your feelings. It’s so sad that this is happening. I think we should bring more awareness to this naturally unfriendly occasion.

The tree got cut down, sadly, to build the new cafeteria (and classrooms later). We think that this action was not worth it because the tree was part of the school since it was built (even before that, it still was there). It was also part of our life and many students cherished it. Many people miss it.
